From the capital to the mouth of the bay
The drive from Podgorica to Herceg Novi covers about 110 km. Leaving the capital, the road climbs to Cetinje, the old royal capital, then drops through the serpentines to Kotor. From there it follows the northern shore of the Bay of Kotor past Perast, Risan and Kamenari before reaching Herceg Novi at the entrance to the bay. It is the classic way to the far western end of Montenegro's coast.
