The route
From Budva the E80 coastal road runs southeast above the sea, passing Bečići and the famous viewpoint over Sveti Stefan before dropping into Petrovac. Beyond Petrovac the highway cuts through pine-covered hills and short tunnels, touches the beach town of Sutomore and then descends to Bar, Montenegro's main port. The whole drive follows real Adriatic coastline, so keep your camera ready on the right-hand side of the car.

Arriving in Bar
Bar is a working port town rather than a resort, so tell the driver exactly where you are headed. The marina and the ferry terminal sit by the centre, the train station — the end of the Belgrade–Bar railway — is a short drive south, and Šušanj beach lies just north of town. Visiting Stari Bar, the old stone town beneath Rumija mountain, adds a few kilometres inland.
Return trip and onward travel

Bar also works as a gateway for onward travel: drivers can continue south to Ulcinj and Velika plaža, or inland through the Sozina tunnel towards Virpazar, Lake Skadar and Podgorica Airport.
